On Typhoon Matmot, our first typhoon

WE ARE SAFE!

Typhoon Matmot has hit Taiwan, and while parts of the Island have definitely been hit very badly, here in Tainan we're relatively okay. There is lots of rain and wind, but compared to other places closer to the coast, it just kind of feels like a snow day here. Schools and most businesses are closed, and people have been advised to stay home, inside and off the roads.

And here's a map of the storm we screen captured last night. As you can see, the storm was headed directly over top us. (We're that little yellow outline directly underneath the storm.)


It's all over the news, but this is a pretty good article.

A few days ago I posted these photos on FB.




That was the precursor to the typhoon we've got right over top of us now. This was the rain this past weekend.


And this is the forecast for the next few days... Even though it's storming with tons of rain and wind, it is SO humid and warm!
